Matthias Meyer-Schwarzenberger is Managing Director (Geschäftsführer) of the Federal Association of German Economists (Bundesverband Deutscher Volks- und Betriebswirte e.V.), a non-profit professional association for economists and business academics.

Before that, Matthias was a postdoctoral fellow at the Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences and associate researcher at the HSE Laboratory for Comparative Social Research. From 2006 to 2013, he was a research assistant at the Institute of Political Science, University of St. Gallen. Matthias served as Editorial Assistant of the Swiss Political Science Review and organized the Annual Congress 2009 of the Swiss Political Science Association as well as the ECPR Joint Sessions 2011. In a voluntary capacity, he was Vice President of the Federal Association of German Economists (bdvb e.V.) from 2012 to November, 2015.

Matthias holds two Master's degrees in international affairs from Sciences Po Paris and the University of St. Gallen (HSG). In September, 2015, he obtained his doctorate in International Affairs and Political Economy with highest distinction from the University of St. Gallen.
